PANDA OF PEACE

DJ BEAR

Supporting sportsmanship, fair play and family entertainment.

In 1988, football grounds had terrace railings and football hooliganism was headline news. Paul Trevillion created a football mascot ‘DJ Bear’ – a larger than life panda whose aim was to bring the fun back to football.

Backed by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and the sports minister, Colin Moynihan, the DJ Bear visited the football league clubs handing out free plastic ‘match’ footballs, panini stickers, ‘match’ magazines and panda drinks, sending out a fun goodwill message to all football fans.

DJ Bear became the official football league mascot, and encouraged every club to have their own fun mascot and give something back to the loyal football fans.
